Welcome to For the Love of Cats!

We are For the Love of Cats

Saving the lives of Abandoned Cats and Kittens

in Collier County, FL every day by-

  • Sterilizing free roaming and feral cats through TNR (trap, neuter, return)
  • Offering low/no cost spay/neuter to people in need
  • Paid adoption fee program for senior cats to senior citizens
  • Rescuing and adopting over 2000 abandoned cats and kittens since 2002

We are an all-volunteer group of passionate people dedicated to saving the lives of abandoned cats and kittens in the Marco Island, Florida area. We rely on the generous donations of the public for 100% of our funding.

Your help can save more little kittens like Mona

monaweb

Little Mona was all that was left of her litter living in a trash heap on an empty lot. The compassionate lady next door had been feeding Mon'a mom along with 16 other cats. Her social security and part time job barely affords her the food for them and with none of the cats fixed, the group was growing out of control. We started our TNR work right away and within 2 days had trapped, fixed and vaccinated all the adult cats. Mona originally had 4 brothers and sisters but they had been taken one by one by hawks or coyotes. Mona came to our shelter with a nasty upper respiratory infection, severe dehydration, diarrhea, a belly full of parasites and her white fur was black with fleas. Hours of volunteer TLC helped her recover quickly and she now has a new forever home where she is cherished and loved.

Helping fix these cats and save kittens like Mona is what For the Love of Cats is all about. Together we can make a difference! Everything we have accomplished over the last 10 years, 2000 adoptions and over 1000 fixed free roaming cats, revolves around our spay/neuter programs. With your help, we can do even more!

Adoption Spotlight

MickieForWebMickie is a 1 year old black and white female. She is a young, fun and energetic girl. Mickie came to us with a litter of 3 kittens who all have new loving homes now. Mickie was abandoned with her kittens in a condo complex by the dumpster. She certainly deserves a better life than that! She would do well with another young cat to play with and needs lots of interactive playtime. Mickie is a very loving cat and has so much to give that special purrson. She is spayed, tested, treated, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $55.

Thank you for visiting us at the weekly Farmer's Market on Marco Island

We had a great season at the market meeting lots of new friends and enjoyed seeing our regular supporters. Our kittens broadened their horizons and their social skills grew in the process. All but the last 2 kittens that were our ambassadors at the market have been adopted into loving homes. I am sure that when the last 2 are big enough to be fixed and microchipped, they will have wonderful new homes too as they are sweet and adorable.

Thanks to your generous donations and brisk sales of T-shirts, notecards and car magnets, we have raised over $3000! Every penny of that money will go towards the rescue and care of abandoned cats and kittens in the community as well helping pets of low income families. A special thanks to our volunteers, John and Elaine Ritchie, Laura Carney and Cathy Levesque for tirelessly setting up the tent, tables and supplies and supervising the kittens every week for 7 months.

See you next year starting in October!
